A little to the west of Hanapepe is the Salt Pond Beach Park, which is also a campsite. This stretch of beach is a family beach and also a popular destination for locals with children. The water here is very calm and therefore ideal for swimming and snorkelling, even for the little ones.
The adjacent Salt Ponds are natural salt springs that are still used by locals during the summer months in centuries-old tradition to produce sea salt.
There are restrooms, showers, covered picnic areas and also a lifeguard at Salt Pond Beach Park to ensure safety in the water. At this beach, there is a good chance that the sun will shine, even if the rest of the green island is covered in clouds.
If you enjoy camping, you can pitch your tent here. You need a ticket for camping, which you can buy at the County Center in Lihue.
