Voted Best Beach in America - Kapalua Beach
White sandy beach, coconut palms, crystal clear water and ideal conditions for swimming are what got Kapalua Beach the title in 1991. Best Beach in America - and even today, some 30 years later, it is visited by many visitors every day.
The popular Kapalua Bay on the west of the island of Maui is a protected beach which becomes very crowded depending on the day and time. No wonder, after all, a beach is not chosen as the best beach in America for nothing. Many visitors come to tan, snorkel and swim in the quiet bay. If you want to enjoy the beauty of the beach in peace and avoid the many visitors, it is best to be there early in the morning. This also increases the chances of getting a shady spot. But regardless of shade or not, it is not difficult to spread your towel on the warm sand and enjoy the beauty of the beach.
Two offshore reefs allow the waves to break far from the beach and the seawater washes onto the beach in gentle waves. Those who come to the beach to explore the underwater world by snorkelling can do so at the northern end of the beach near the rocks. There is a shallow water depth of three meters and it is possible to snorkel completely relaxed over the reef. In the beginning, the visibility is clouded by swirling sand but it becomes clearer the further you are away from the beach. If you spend the whole day on the beach, you will experience a breathtaking sunset in the evening. In strong red-orange colours, the glowing sun sinks daily on the horizon and reflects its strong colours in the ocean.
Parking info:
A limited number of parking spaces are available right next to the path leading to the beach. If these are occupied, you can use the parking lot of the tennis club or the roadside.
