White Sands Beach Park (Magic Sands) - Beschreibung

At White Sands Beach Park the sand is magical, as it sometimes disappears completely overnight, leaving only the black lava rocks. This phenomenon, which is why the beach is also Magic Sands occurs only in winter. The conditions here are then just ideal for experienced bodysurfers and surfers.

In summer, it is usually also good to swim here and enjoy the sun on the beach when there is sand to lie on. At the southern end of the beach there is a small rocky cave, which invites for snorkeling and scuba diving. Many tropical fish as well as lots of sea turtles can be observed from close up.

The Big Island's only annual bodysurfing contest is held on this beach and attracts many visitors.

What we say

Tommy
There is a lot going on at this beach, but it is still worth stopping here once, or better yet several times if your route allows it, so that you can experience the magical effect of the disappearing sand for yourself. Also a popular meeting place with the locals.
Unsere Checkliste & Tipps:
  • Few parking spaces on the street and opposite
  • Volleyball court available
  • Bodysurfer Championship in winter
