Chun’s Reef | Surfbreak - Beschreibung

Chun's Reef is a break, situated roughly in the middle of the 7 miles of surf breaks on Oahu's North Shore. The spot got its name in the 60s from surf legend John Chun, who often surfed here with his children, because the conditions for beginners are very good here.

At Chun's Reef you can find many local surf schools that offer their courses here. The reef is very close to the coast, so you have to paddle over it first. There are surfers of different levels at Chun's Reef, and people who enjoy watching the surfers and picnic on the beach.

There is no parking lot associated with the section, yet there are a few free parking spaces on the street.

What we say

Those with a little surfing experience can rent a board and try the waves here on their own. Those who prefer to take a course will have fun here in the shallower waves under instruction.
Our checklist & tips:
  • Limited parking on the street
  • No facilities on the beach
  • Pack food
